Repair Solutions

Immediate Assistance That Gets a Power Plant Back Up and Running Quickly

An unwelcome surprise at the boiler roof of one of our Dutch customers: a change in boiler operating conditions had severely affected the weld overlay. As an immediate on-site measure, we applied a nickel-based alloy coating to the damaged areas, avoiding the extensive replacement of membrane-wall sections.

While the boiler continues to operate as planned, the customer now has time to carry out a thorough damage analysis and determine the further action required to prevent this type of damage from recurring after only 18 months in service.

The Advantage: Time for a Thorough Damage Analysis and the Planning of Long-Term Countermeasures

Repair Individual Tubes Instead of Replacing Entire Tube Banks

Repair of Plasma-Coated Superheater Tubes

Plasma-coated and heat-treated superheater tubes make an important contribution to extending service life and ensuring the operational reliability of boiler systems. Nevertheless, localised damage can occur on individual tubes over time, even where the remaining tubes are still in good condition.

In such cases, it is often more economical to replace or repair only the affected tubes rather than renewing complete tube banks. In addition, plasma-coated tubes can also be joined to tubes made from other materials, such as INCONEL™-coated tubes.

However, due to their particular properties, heat-treated nickel-based coatings require special care during machining and welding. Their high wear resistance places specific demands on the preparation, machining and execution of repair work.

We will be pleased to support you in planning and carrying out the appropriate repairs. Contact us to find out more about the available options and the recommended procedure. On request, we can provide a practical guide describing and explaining each stage of the work in detail.

On-Site Coating

A Flexible Solution for Exceptional Challenges

There are situations in which in-shop processing is not feasible or cannot be completed within the available timeframe – for example, in the event of unplanned damage, short maintenance windows or large-scale components that are difficult to transport.

In these cases, we provide bespoke on-site coating solutions. Using state-of-the-art mobile equipment and experienced specialists, we can respond quickly, flexibly and reliably even in demanding environments, including power plants, refineries and marine installations. Whether for repair work or protective coatings, our on-site solutions provide an efficient, durable option without the need to dismantle or transport components.

This is how we combine quality and flexibility to protect your components, even under challenging conditions.

In-Shop Coating

Maximum Quality Under Optimum Conditions

In principle, in-shop coating is the preferred option where quality, process reliability and optimum processing conditions are paramount. Under controlled conditions, coatings can be applied and inspected with maximum precision and repeatability – a decisive advantage for many industrial applications.
